Kate Morris has over 10 years’ experience in academia, government, and the private sector, predominantly working in marine & freshwater fisheries certification and applied fisheries management. Her previous experience includes delivering audits against the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Marin Trust certification schemes at Lloyd’s Register as Senior Fisheries Technical Officer and maintaining Fish Producer Organisation (PO) compliance in England (under UK/EU Common Market Organisation (CMO) regulation 1379/2013)as Principal Fisheries Manager at the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). During this time, Kate was responsible for more than 30 MSC certifications within the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada, Russia and China, in addition to acting as lead auditor on PO Compliance audits conducted across England. Kate has practical knowledge of both fisheries and environmental management and enforcement under UK and EC legislation, with a long-term focus on improving the sustainability of fisheries worldwide.

Kate holds a MSc in Environmental Management and is currently a PhD candidate at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.
