Sally Ananya Surangpimol is a pioneer in standards-setting and conformity assessments for food exports and imports, with a special focus on integrated management systems. Originally from the Philippines, she completed her B. Sc and M. Sc at Tokyo University of Fisheries, one of the first women to do so. For the past 30 years, Sally has lived and worked in Thailand, assisting stakeholders within the global food supply chain, especially in the high-risk seafood industry. She has worked with both public and private organizations within Asia-Pacific, North America, Africa and Europe on developing and adapting industry-tailored systems for compliance to international standards, and accountability and visibility in global markets. Leading The Food School’s projects, she supports retailers, producers, associations, NGOs/CSOs, UN/ government agencies, and academia, in research, consultation, auditing and training, to develop and enhance food safety, quality, sustainability, and environmental and social systems. Her work encourages legal frameworks and interpretation guidelines that facilitate cost-effective, practical and harmonized standards implementation worldwide. Sally speaks five languages.
